The CAMEO project team came together in numbers at ECMWF premises in Bonn, Germany on 14th and 15th May 2024.
Over 50 project team members attended in person, with additional people dialling in online to take part in the WP update presentations and cross cutting discussions over the 2 days.
Day 1, Johannes Flemming welcomed all to the meeting and introduced Laurence Rouil, (Director of CAMS) to speak on the CAMS landscape and where CAMEO fits in.
Presentations followed from the sister projects CORSO, CATRINE and CAMAERA from Richard Engelen (ECMWF), Anna Agusti-Panareda (ECMWF, remote) and Samuel Remy (HYGEOS), respectively.
WP leaders presented their WP progress and science highlights, which were all very well received.
The end of the day, saw the start of the cross cutting discussions. Marc Guevara led the topic "Emissions Uncertainty", leading to very in depth discussions with great participation from the team.
Day 2 continued with the cross cutting discussions. The opening session, led by Antje Inness and Vincent Guidard, discussed Data Assimilation. This was then followed by Oleg Dubovik leading a session on Aerosol optical properties. Vincent Huijnen closed off the discussion session on Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
Antje Inness, WP 2 lead comments " Coming together for a face-to-face meeting was very important at this stage in the project. We held some excellent discussions and it made the meeting really worthwhile from a scientific perspective. It was also great to meet our colleagues in person and be able to talk offline at the conference dinner and during the coffee breaks".
